Are you interested in electrochemical CO2 conversion and can you contribute to the development of our novel project in bioinspired CO2 conversion? Then the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering invites you to apply for a 1-year postdoc position.
Expected start date and duration of employment
This is a 1-year position from 01.11.2023 or as soon possible.
Job description
The project focuses on screening and optimizing of the electrochemical properties of novel biomolecule-based catalysts towards CO2 conversion.
The applicant will play a significant role in the establishment of a novel research project. This will involve fundamental development of experimental setups and protocols, as well as meticulous and systematic catalytic screening and structural analysis.
The job will include:
- Establishing setups and protocols for screening of the CO2 reduction properties of biomolecule-based catalysts
- Chemical analysis incl. NMR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, IR-spectroscopy
- Catalyst modifications
- Drafting of scientific publications
Your profile
We are looking for one postdoc, who will be part of an interdisciplinary team. Applicants should hold a PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, nanoscience or similar.
The applicant should have the following competences:
- Experience with electrocatalysis
- Experience with analytical techniques incl. NMR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, and IR-spectroscopy
- Experience with handling of biomolecules is a strong advantage
- Experience with CO2 conversion is an advantage
- Good written and oral communication skills in English are essential
The applicant will work in the Hybrid Materials Lab under supervision of Assoc. Prof. Nina Lock. The group focuses on the development of hybrid organic-inorganic materials for electro- and photocatalysis, specifically aimed towards CO2 conversion and hydrogen production. The research focuses on three pillars: design and synthesis of novel catalysts, catalytic testing, and correlation of catalyst structure and performance.
The Department offers:
- a well-developed research infrastructure, laboratories and access to shared equipment
- an exciting interdisciplinary environment with many national, international and industrial collaborators
- a research climate encouraging lively, open and critical discussion within and across different fields of research
- a work environment with close working relationships, networking and social activities
